Protest Music about the Vietnam War

How do I research protest music about the Vietnam War?

  • Go to CLIO and search for Woodstock Festival as a "Subject Heading" search type. Look at titles under this heading and also the bibliography heading.
  • Go to Worldcat and search for: Vietnamese as a Subject, AND music as a subject AND protest as a subject. Titles will be marked with green Columbia Libraries text if we own the title, others can be requested through ILL.
  • RILM - Abstracts of Music Literature - Search for Vietnamese AND protest.
  • Visit the Music Library and/or contact the Music subject specialist Librarian: Elizabeth Davis at 701 Dodge at davise@columbia.edu. EAK

You can also search CLIO under the subject heading Vietnamese Conflict, 1961-1975--Music and the conflict and its various subdivisions. There is what seems to be a very useful book in the stacks

Author: Hillstrom, Kevin, 1963-

Title: The Vietnam experience : a concise encyclopedia of American literature, songs, and films / Kevin Hillstrom and Laurie Collier Hillstrom.

Physical Description: xiii, 322 p. ; 24 cm.

There is also information in some of the encyclopedias of the Vietnamese war in reference, and further references in various bibliographies, such as America and the Indochina Wars and The United States in the Vietnam War. Mary
